Understanding limitations

A report should be used as a decision tool. Observations are considered alongside the installation, its use and the relevant requirements rather than treated as a simple pass-or-fail label.

How long does electrical testing take?
It depends on the number of circuits, access, identification and condition. A small flat may be much quicker than a larger property with multiple boards.
Will the electricity need to be switched off?
Usually, some isolation is needed for safe and meaningful testing. The likely disruption is discussed before the visit.
Is remedial work included?
Not unless specifically listed. A report or diagnostic visit can be followed by a separate quotation for agreed remedials.
Can you test an occupied rental property?
Yes, provided access and suitable arrangements are made. Tenants should know that power may be interrupted during the inspection.
