What changes a price?

The visible job is only part of the scope.

  • Condition and type of the existing wiring.
  • Surface, concealed or difficult cable routes.
  • Occupied rooms, furniture and protected finishes.
  • Number of visits and coordination with other trades.
  • Testing, certification and notification requirements.
  • Parking, controlled access and specialist equipment.
Fixed quote or diagnosis?

The charging basis should match the uncertainty.

Fixed quotation: appropriate where the scope, route, products and existing condition can be understood before work begins.

Diagnostic basis: appropriate for hidden, intermittent or unexplained faults where the time needed cannot honestly be predicted.

Staged quotation: useful where testing or opening access is needed before the full project can be priced.

Information that helps reduce uncertainty.

Send the property type, postcode, photos, required finish, approximate cable distance and any product details. For rewires or refurbishments, a room-by-room point list is especially useful.

A site visit may still be needed, but better information produces a clearer quotation and reduces avoidable changes later.

Known parking, permit, congestion or building-access arrangements should be mentioned when requesting the price.

Questions about electrical pricing

Are these prices guaranteed?

No. They are planning ranges only. The written quotation for your property is the price that applies.

Why can two apparently similar jobs cost differently?

Cable routes, access, circuit condition, protective devices, parking, finish and testing can make the scope very different.

Is fault finding a fixed price?

Usually not. A starting diagnostic basis can be agreed, but hidden or intermittent faults may take longer to locate.

Are materials included?

The written quotation states what materials are included. Customer-supplied products must be suitable and available when required.

Are parking and access costs included?

Known costs and restrictions are considered in the quotation. Provide accurate location and access details at the start.

Do you require a deposit?

Deposits may be requested for material-heavy or multi-stage work. Any payment schedule is stated before acceptance.

Can the quote change after work starts?

The agreed scope does not change without discussion. Hidden defects or customer-requested changes are explained and approved before extra work proceeds.
