Website and quotation terms
General information about enquiries, quotations, access, variations, payment and electrical work.
Last updated: 23 June 2026
These website terms explain the general basis on which Bastian Electrical receives enquiries and provides quotations. A project-specific written quotation or agreement takes priority where it conflicts with this general page. Statutory consumer rights are not excluded.
1. Business identity
Bastian Electrical is James Jacobs trading as Bastian Electrical, an insured sole-trader electrical business covering London and selected surrounding areas.
2. Website information
Website content is general information. It does not diagnose an installation, guarantee availability or create a contract. Safety, legal and technical requirements can change.
3. Example prices
Published price ranges are planning examples, not binding offers. The applicable price is the written quotation or agreed diagnostic basis for the actual property and scope.
4. Quotations
A quotation states the work included, assumptions, exclusions, price basis and validity period. Acceptance should be confirmed in the requested form. Work outside the agreed scope is not included unless approved.
5. Surveys and diagnostic work
Some faults and projects cannot be fixed-price quoted before testing, access or a site survey. Any paid diagnostic or survey basis will be explained before attendance.
6. Access and customer responsibilities
The customer should provide safe and timely access, accurate property information, authority to instruct the work, parking or permit information and access to relevant electrical equipment. Delays or aborted visits caused by unavailable access may be chargeable where this was agreed.
7. Hidden conditions and variations
Concealed defects, unsafe previous work, asbestos risk, inaccessible routes, supply problems or incorrect customer information may require a change. The issue and proposed variation will be explained before additional work proceeds, except where immediate action is reasonably necessary to remove danger.
8. Materials and customer-supplied products
Materials supplied by Bastian Electrical remain subject to the quotation and manufacturer terms. Customer-supplied products must be suitable, complete and available. Additional time or return visits caused by unsuitable products may be chargeable where agreed.
9. Making good
Chasing, patching, plastering, decoration, flooring and other making good are included only where clearly stated. “Making good” should be interpreted according to the quotation, not as an automatic promise of a decorated finish.
10. Electrical supply and interruptions
Safe work may require power isolation. Customers should protect data, shut down equipment and make arrangements for occupants or business operations. Exact interruption times cannot always be guaranteed where faults are discovered.
11. Payment
Payment stages, deposits and due dates are stated in the quotation or invoice. Queries should be raised promptly. Ownership of unfixed materials and any lawful recovery rights are subject to the agreed terms and applicable law.
12. Cancellation and postponement
Please provide as much notice as possible. Special-order materials, reserved time or late cancellation may create costs where allowed by the agreement and law. Any statutory cancellation rights are unaffected.
13. Availability and emergency response
No 24-hour, same-day or guaranteed response is promised unless confirmed for a specific booking. Immediate fire, medical or network emergencies should be directed to the appropriate emergency service or network operator.
14. Liability
Nothing excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Bastian Electrical is not responsible for losses caused by matters outside the agreed scope, inaccurate information, third-party products or services, or failures in concealed equipment that could not reasonably be identified.
15. Complaints
Raise concerns promptly with James Jacobs so they can be investigated. Provide the job address, date, description and relevant photographs or documents.
16. Governing law
These website terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protections.
